SPARTANBURG, S.C.The Spartanburg Public Safety Department said officers are investigating an area shooting that left one man dead Thursday.
According to a police report, officers were called at about 6:35 p.m. to the Oakview Apartments after a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers said they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest on the sidewalk in front of apartment No. 208.
Authorities said the man was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center but died shortly after arrival.
The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office identified the man as 23-year-old Steven Duran Means, of Spartanburg.
Officers said their investigation revealed that the shooting occurred outside of the apartment. However, no arrests have been made.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday.
