Andy Wood is the weekend meteorologist on FOX Carolina News Tonight, which airs from 10 to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Andy grew up in Manchester, Tenn., and went to school at Mississippi State University, where he graduated with a degree in geosciences/meteorology.
Andy says that his motivation to become a meteorologist primarily came from several big Tennessee snowstorms which blanketed his yard in 1993, 1996 and 1997.
While earning his degree, Andy worked as a weekend meteorologist for WTOK-TV in Meridian, Miss. After working in Meridian for three months, Andy landed his next job at WMAZ-TV in Macon, GA. He spent two years in central Georgia working first as weekend meteorologist and finally as morning meteorologist. In September 2006, Andy moved to the Upstate of South Carolina to work as the weekend meteorologist for FOX Carolina.
