CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Clemson will host Rutgers, Arkansas and Auburn, and travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands as part of its 2014-15 men's basketball schedule. The school announced it non-conference matchups Tuesday. Clemson opens the season Nov. 14 at home against Florida A&M.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina assistant Mark Bernardino is glad to be back in the pool coaching, even if it isn't what the one-time Atlantic Coast Conference championship leader expected at this point in his career. Bernardino's Cavaliers dominated the ACC, winning 27 titles from 1978-2013. But Bernardino and Virginia parted ways last year, a split that still stings the longtime coach.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Panthers offensive lineman Travelle Wharton officially announced his retirement at a news conference at Wofford College, about 30 minutes from he grew up and started playing the game. Wharton played in 115 games and started 111 for Carolina.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Panthers rookie wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin says he woke up Tuesday morning feeling "like a new man" and plans to play in preseason games. Carolina's first-round draft pick gave the team a scare on Sunday when he injured his left knee during practice. However, an MRI Monday revealed Benjamin only has a bone bruise.
