
A Gaffney police officer resigned after he was charged with driving under the influence Saturday, according to the Gaffney Police Department.
Police said Officer Eric Mowery was off-duty when he was involved in a crash on Union Street. They said the South Carolina Highway Patrol charged Mowery with felony DUI in connection with the crash.
Mowery resigned the same day, police said.
Mowery worked at the Gaffney Police Department for a little more than two years.
According to The Associated Press, a person who was in the car with Mowery was airlifted to a hospital and was listed in fair condition.
Mowery was also injured in the crash, the AP reported.
Mowery was released from jail on $20,000 bond, the AP reported.
