Vision Airlines pulling out of GSP

SAVANNAH, GA (AP) -

Vision Airlines is dropping its service to several cities, including Greenville.

The Atlanta-based company announced it was coming to GSP in January, and service started on March 25th.

It's also ending service next month to Huntsville, Columbia, Baton Rouge and Savannah.

David Meers, the airline's chief operating officer, said in a statement Monday that demand was lower than expected for Vision's flights between Savannah and Destin-Fort Walton Beach in Florida.

The metro Atlanta-based carrier began offering the service three days a week in late March.

The Greenville and Savannah flights will end July 17.

The airline began in 1994 in Las Vegas, Nev., and offered tourist flights from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon.
