GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Police are searching for the teen who shot a mortar firework toward an officer Monday night as he was responding to a noise complaint.

Just before midnight, the Greenville police officer headed to an apartment complex on South Textile Avenue. A police report says as he pulled up, a firework exploded on his windshield.

The report continues to say the unnamed officer left his car to arrest one of the teenagers involved, and when he had that teen in handcuffs, another firework hit him in the chest, exploding just a foot or so from his face.

The officer is in good health, but the police are searching for the teen who allegedly shot the firework at the officer.

Anyone with information was asked to call Greenville County Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME.
