Overnight fire destroys Townville home

Firefighters battle a blaze at a home in Townville. (July 19, 2011/FOX Carolina)

TOWNVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A fire late Tuesday night destroyed a lake-front home under construction in Anderson County.

Firefighters said the house along Point Drive on Lake Hartwell was engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Part of the 3,000-square-foot home collapsed, but no one was injured, firefighters said.

A neighbor said the house was nearly complete before it caught fire. He said he heard an explosion before noticing the blaze.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
