SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A girl whose disappearance prompted an Amber Alert in North Carolina was found safe in Spartanburg County on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said a tow truck driver, Beano Francis from Shelby, NC spotted a vehicle on Interstate 85 that matched the description of the one given in the Amber Alert. They said the truck driver called 911 and reported the vehicle.

"I saw a guy he had no shirt on and a big toboggan over his head," Francis said.

"I talked to a dispatcher and I told her I heard an Amber Alert on the radio that fit the description of a car I'm behind now in Greer, SC," he said.

He followed them and investigators said Tyler Cole noticed Francis behind him.

"He's starting to jump around lanes and was driving a little erratic. He first acts like he's going to go straight back toward I-85, but he turns into the BMW plant," he said.

Beano Francis said Cole then got back on I-85 and he did too.

By that time, a Spartanburg County deputy pulled the car over.

"They got him out the car handcuffed him," Francis said.

Investigators said a deputy stopped the vehicle and found 18-year-old Cole and the 13-year-old girl inside.

WGHP-TV reported that the girl was reported missing from Alamance County, NC, on Monday.

The girl met Cole online, the television station reported.

Cole was arrested on outstanding warrants from Alamance County, deputies said.

Investigators said Cherokee County charged Cole with criminal sexual conduct in the second degree.
