The boyfriend of a woman whose body was found inside a Simpsonville home Tuesday was accused Wednesday with beating her and her mother to death.

Investigators said the bodies of 56-year-old Jane Lancer and her daughter, 26-year-old Allison Cross, were found inside a home at 109 Eastview Dr. at 3:08 p.m.

Lt. Kevin Threlkeld, of the Simpsonville Police Department, said officers went to the home at the request of a relative, who was concerned about the people who lived there.

After getting no response at the door, officers entered the home through an open window. They found the bodies in a bedroom covered with comforters, Threlkeld said.

Simpsonville police said they also found 35-year-old Michael Crane inside the home. They charged him with two counts of murder and he is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center.

A neighbor, Debbie Chitwood, said she was watering her flowers when she saw police pull up.

"Two cop cars pulled up and the next thing I know, you got 20 cop cars out here, helicopters flying everywhere," Chitwood said.  "Now they're saying people are dead over there and I haven't seen the mother in two weeks."

Lancer was a member at Clear Spring Baptist Church in Simpsoville. The Rev. Cameron Byrd is the pastor there.

"We just want everyone to know we're sorry this has happened," Byrd said. "With faith in Christ, the church family really comes together to trust and we remind everyone of God's promises and his presence."
