Cherokee Co. corrections officer accused of molesting child

GAFFNEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Cherokee County corrections officer has been accused of molesting a child.

The State Law Enforcement Division said 36-year-old Harold Phillips, of Gaffney, was arrested on Monday after an investigation was launched at the request of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

According to an arrest warrant, Phillips sexually assaulted the victim who was less than 11 years old sometime between September 2010 and July.

Phillips was charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor under 11 years of age. He was being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
