GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A man was arrested Tuesday and accused of killing a man who was reported missing in July, a spokesman for the Greenville County Sheriff's Office said.

Jerry Allen Jr. was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in the death of Charles Roberts.

Roberts was reported missing on July 8. He was last seen leaving work that day, and investigators said they later found his vehicle in a wooded area off Gap Creek Road.

Roberts' remains were discovered Monday in a creek off Geer Highway in Travelers Rest.

Kent Dill, of the Greenville County Coroner's Office, said an autopsy revealed Roberts died from a gunshot wound.

Deputies said they identified Allen as a suspect in the case after interviewing him and reviewing the facts surrounding the case.

Allen was being held without bond at the Greenville County Detention Center.
