GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Salvation Army of Greenville County is starting early in an effort to help local children have a memorable holiday.

They will accept applications for families in need Nov. 1 until Nov. 4 at the TD Convention Center.

"We are anticipating a large response because of the economy," said Major Bobby Lancaster, Area Coordinator for Greenville County. "It's not going to be easy this year, but with the support of the community, I am confident we will be able to make a difference in the lives of the children we serve."

Families looking for Christmas assistance can stop by the TD Convention Center between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in Hall 2 during the application drive.

Parents can fill out an application for their children 13-years-old and younger. They will be required to bring a picture ID, proof of all income and expenses for their household in the last 30 days, birth certificates for all children, and a DSS household summary print out.
