PICKENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

More jobs and a shopping options are on the way for Pickens.

A Walmart is in the works and will bring 200 new jobs, according to Pickens City Administrator Katherine Barrett.

The 90,000-square-foot store is planned along Highway 8 at Roberts Drive in Pickens.

Barrett said the store will be about half the size of the one in Easley and won't be a supercenter, but it will have all of the same departments as the larger store, including groceries, a garden center and a pharmacy.

The store will sit on about 19.5 acres, according to Barrett. A vacant former car dealership that will be torn down is currently on the property.

Walmart is in the process of buying the land.

Construction is expected to begin summer of 2012 and be completed by summer of 2013.
