SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies arrested two suspects Thursday night after a man was shot Wednesday at an apartment complex.

The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. at Crescent Hill Apartments on Pineneedle Drive.

Police said 19-year-old Kendrick Cannon was shot in the hip outside the apartments.

Investigators said the gunman also tried to take the life of Quita Gentry.

Officers said they were able to make two arrests after talking to witnesses and the victim.

Cornelius Staggers, 20, of Spartanburg is charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of attempted armed robbery.  He's also facing a firearms charge.

Gelisha Armstrong, 22, of Spartanburg is charged with accessory after the fact of a felony.

"Every day there is fighting going on," said Sherry Petty, who lives nearby. "Shooting going on. People breaking into people's houses and stuff like that. All this is not called for. It's really not called for at all."

Police said robbery was the motive for the shooting.
