GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Outdoor-lovers have a new place to put their jogging shoes to the test in Greenville.

The Sliding Rock Creek Trail was opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony along Alameda Street on Friday.

The new trail is part of a $300,000 investment in the Nicholtown community. It connects the Swamp Rabbit Trail to the Lendhart Memorial Bridge.

Organizers said the trail is a great addition to the neighborhood.

"It beautifies the community," said Ayanna Webb, who was at the ceremony. "It brings people together. It gets the kids out exercising instead of being behind the video games."

The trail also features learning stations throughout that were installed by the United Way.
