ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Eight "Occupy Wall Street" protesters were arrested in Asheville on Tuesday night, police said.

Police said they approached members of the group and asked them to leave the area near Asheville City Hall, because both the hall and a nearby park were closed.

Many of the protesters moved to a different area and continued their protest, police said. They said eight people refused to leave.

Police said they suggested alternate locations for the eight to continue their demonstration, but they still refused.

All eight of the people arrested were charged with trespassing.
