ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

An Asheville man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian on Thanksgiving.

The crash happened about 3:30 p.m. on Broadway Street just north of Interstate 240.

Police said a truck traveling from downtown on Broadway Street hit 57-year-old Mell Ailes Sr., who was walking on the street, and left the scene. They said Ailes was taken to Mission Hospital, where he later died.

Investigators said that on Friday an officer recognized the truck that was believed to be involved in the crash and went to the home where he believed the truck was parked.

Police said the driver, 41-year-old William Bolden, confessed to hitting Ailes.

Bolden was charged with hit-and-run resulting in death and no operator's license. He was released from jail on $5,000 bond.
