Tempe police AR-15 rifle stolen in burglary

TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) -

Officers are seeking the public's help in locating an AR-15 rifle that was stolen from an off-duty Tempe police officer's personal vehicle early Monday morning.

The incident happened between 4:45 a.m. and 6:20 a.m. while the vehicle was parked in a parking lot on the ASU campus. The AR-15 is described as a lightweight, magazine-fed semi-automatic rifle.

Police declined to release the officer's name while the investigation proceeds. Officers said they don't have any suspects or witnesses.

Investigators said they will be conducting an administrative review for any potential policy violations on the part of the officer.
