NC company recalls meat served in SC schools

WASHINGTON (FOX Carolina) -

A food recall has schools in South Carolina and other states on alert after a North Carolina company said more than 3,000 pounds of its product might have pieces of a conveyer belt mixed in.

Forest City, NC, company RSW Distributors recalled their season cooked diced beef products on Saturday, which were produced on Dec. 9, 2011 and shipped to institutions for further distribution to schools in South Carolina, Tennessee and Washington as part of the USDA's National School Lunch Program.

The recall was released after a conveyor belt was damaged during production. So far, neither the company or the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service have received reports of consumer complaints or reports of injury or illness.

Greenville County Schools said Tuesday that none of the schools in their district received the recalled meat. The last shipment they received from RSW was in October.
