EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Ten students were injured when a school bus crashed in Pickens County on Tuesday morning.

Julie Thompson, spokeswoman for the School District of Pickens County, said that at 7:25 a.m. a school bus crashed into another vehicle near the intersection of Highway 135 and East A Avenue in Easley.

Easley Police Chief Danny Traber said the school bus failed to yield and hit a sport utility vehicle.

Traber said five ambulances took 10 students and an adult to area hospitals.

Officials at Greenville Memorial Hospital said seven students were taken there. They said three were from McKissick Elementary School, one was from Gettys Middle School and three were from Easley High School.

Two other McKissick students and another Easley High student were taken to Baptist Easley Hospital, Thompson said.

Thompson said that by 4 p.m., all of the students were released from the hospital. She said all of the injuries were bumps and bruises.

The bus driver, 52-year-old Rebecca Marie Jones Reeves, was charged with failure to yield the right of way, Traber said.

Thompson said Reeves was placed on administrative leave, pending an internal investigation.
