Robert Case (Spartanburg Co. Detention Center)
SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Deputies said a Chesnee man threatened two newspaper delivery men with a gun and fired shots because he thought their truck was a suspicious vehicle.
According to a Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office report, deputies were called to Taft Drive in Chesnee at 4 a.m. Wednesday when the two men said Robert Case, 56, pointed a gun at them and told them to get out of their truck.
The men said for several nights Case had been shining a light at them, and on Wednesday they thought they heard firecrackers before realizing that three gunshots were fired, according to the report.
The report said the men delivered newspapers in the area of Case's home. After they heard the final gunshot, the men saw Case walk into the middle of the road, shine a red light in their faces, point a gun at them and told them to get out of the vehicle, according to the report.
The men called 911 and drove down the road to wait for deputies to arrive. The report said a neighbor told deputies that she heard Case yelling, then saw him in the front yard firing two shots into the ground.
Deputies said they were called Tuesday night by Case reporting a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood, but he was told the red truck was the newspaper delivery men.
Case was arrested and charged with two counts of pointing and presenting a firearm at the men.
