Laurens man charged with armed robbery

LAURENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Laurens man was accused of using a gun to steal a woman's purse last month.

Laurens County deputies said that on Dec. 13, 2011, a man walked up behind a woman, pointed a gun at her and demanded her purse. They said that eventually the man opened the door of the woman's car, snatched her purse and fled.

Tykendrick Williamson, 24, was charged Thursday in connection with the robbery. He was charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Williamson was being held at the county jail.
