SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Officers said a Spartanburg woman did not want her car towed, so she ran out of a house wearing only a towel then drove her car off of the tow truck.

According to a Spartanburg Public Safety incident report, the tow truck company was called to Brawley Street to tow a black Cadillac parked in the road.

As the car was being pulled up onto the wrecker's flat bed, police said Lakeisha Smith, 27, ran out in only a towel to stop the operator.

The report said Smith got into the car through a rear door, climbed into the front seat, started the engine and attempted to drive away in reverse. The car was already attached to the tow truck cable, so it took her several tries before she was able to break free, according to police.

Officers said as Smith tried to find an escape route, she drove through the residence's backyard and through a rear fence.

The report said the truck's cable system was damaged, worth at least $500.

Police said Smith was charged for malicious injury to real property.
