Happy Friday! We escaped without much action during the overnight - I've only seen about three reports of trees down across the area. There are still some showers out there now (6:45 AM), but we'll soon see those come to an end for just about all locations.
The only exception may be the TN border areas of WNC - these folks will hold on to more cloud cover and a few spotty showers through the late morning and afternoon hours. Those could even wrap up as a few snowflakes later in the day.
The rest of the region will see clouds clearing out through the remainder of the morning. The afternoon will be bright and dry - so those of you wanting the rain to just go away will get your wish! Breezy winds will be the only "weather problem" later today... those winds will be out of the W 10-15 mph in the Upstate and the NW at 10-15 mph in the Mountains.
Temps will top out in the mid 60s in the Upstate, so it will be a nice and mild afternoon. The cool air spilling in behind the cold front will leave temps on the decline in WNC, however. Morning thermometer readings will hold in the low 50s, with temps dipping into the upper 40s by the afternoon. So while Asheville won't see drastic temperature drops, you will see the mercury lower a bit through the day.
The weekend will be dry and bright - with temps above-normal on Saturday and near-normal on Sunday. A few flurries will be possible late on Saturday in the Northern Mountains (Mitchell, Yancey Counties) but we won't see any accumulations.
Have a great weekend!!
