Gingrich wins 23 of 25 delegates in SCGOP primary

COLUMBIA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The South Carolina Republican Party released the final delegate numbers Monday following the Jan. 21 Primary.

The party said with 100 percent of the 2,117 precincts reporting, the winner, Newt Gingrich, was confirmed. He won 11 at-large delegates with 40.43 percent of the vote.

Mitt Romney finished second with 27.85 percent of the vote but did not win any at-large delegates.

Gingrich also won a total of 12 delegates by winning the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh Congressional districts. Romney won two delegates by winning the first Congressional district.

In all, Gingrich won 23 delegates and Romney won two of the state's 25 total delegates.

A total of 605,710 voters participated in the 2012 SCGOP primary on Jan. 21, more than in the 2008 and 2000 primaries.
