GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Greer police said they arrested the brother of a woman killed in double-fatal shooting and armed robbery on Monday.
The shootings happened at 9:18 a.m. at 203 Pelham St.
Police said they arrested the brother of 32-year-old Tamika Weatherspoon, of Greer, in connection with the shooting and attempted armed robbery on Thursday.
Michael Weatherspoon, 21, was charged with murder, attempted armed robbery and conspiracy.
Officers said the investigation revealed that Michael transported Tamika to the Pelham St. house and gave her the weapon used in the crime.
Investigators said that when the homeowner, 62-year-old Douglas Burgess Jr., answered a knock at his door, he found Tamika who asked him for some money.
Police said that when Burgess refused to give Tamika any money, she pulled a gun. They said Burgess then pulled his own gun. They said both Tamika and Burgess fired one shot, killing each other.
Burgess' family said he was a father of three and had seven grandchildren. They said he was a concealed weapons permit holder and usually carried a gun.
Burgess was also an Army veteran who served multiple tours in Vietnam.
His family said as far as they knew, Burgess had never been robbed but he said the warnings on his front door were put up because of some things going on in the area.
Police said the investigation into the double-fatal shooting continues.
