SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers said at least one person was killed in a crash in Spartanburg on Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened at 12:17 p.m. at the intersection of Vanderbilt Lane and Vanderbilt Road.

A picture of the scene showed a car was pinned between two trees near a curve in the road.

A witness told FOX Carolina that the car hit a tree. He said he tried to help but was unable because the car was in flames.

Coroner Rusty Clevenger identified the victim Friday as Jimmy Earl Johnson Sr., of Spartanburg. He said the cause and manner of death were still under investigation.
