CHARLESTON, SC (AP) -
A man threatening to kill himself snarled traffic in Charleston as he closed down the Ravenel Bridge for two hours.
Authorities said the man drove up the northbound lanes of the bridge just before 3 p.m. Thursday, turned his SUV across several lanes, and threatened to kill himself. His vehicle had messages on
the windows that include "Stay away," "Happy now" and "Game over."
The man tried to run his SUV off the bridge at one point, but was stopped by the retaining wall.
Police eventually were able to take the man into custody around 5 p.m. His name or condition were not immediately released.
The only other bridge into Mount Pleasant in the Charleston area on Interstate 526 was backing up quickly.
