Deputies: Man accused of sexually texting, touching young girl

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies arrested a Campobello man Friday following an investigation into accusations that he inappropriately touched a young girl.

Spartanburg County deputies said a report was filed on Jan. 11 about the illegal, sexual contact between James McMakin, 25, and a girl between 12- and 13-years-old.

On Friday, McMakin was charged with lewd act on a minor following the Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit's investigation.

Deputies said the victim's mother reported McMakin sent inappropriate text messages to the girl, and they had been texting each other since September 2011.

The victim said during her Christmas break, McMakin kissed her and inappropriately touched her, according to the incident report.

Deputies said the victim said that similar incidents had happened about 13 times since September.
