Thursday was warm, sunny and generally wonderful, while Friday was not so bad either! Temps were cooler today and we'll continue the cooling trend into the weekend. Plus, we'll throw in some rain.
Tonight a cool air wedge will set up across the Carolinas and Georgia, which is produced by and east/northeast wind. Chilly air will get trapped across our area through Saturday, and light rain showers will persist through the day. Saturday night the rain will become a bit heavier as a cold front approaches. The front will pass through Sunday AM, bringing gusty winds and clearing skies for Sunday afternoon. Therefore, if you have plans to celebrate on Super Bowl Sunday, you should be OK to be outside grilling or just hanging out after about noon. Temperatures will be milder on Sunday as highs reach the low 60s in most spots, but on Saturday temps will struggle to get over 50!
Next week we'll have surface high pressure in place, but a southwest flow in the upper levels. This means we won't have much rain in the forecast, but intervals of cloudiness and temperatures slightly above normal in the upper 50s for highs in the Upstate and low to mid 50s in the mountains.
Looks like our next chance for a good, soaking rain will come late next week into the weekend. May get pretty chilly behind that system as well, but no major arctic outbreaks on the horizon at this point.
