Euro model showing some exceptionally cold air for the east this weekend.Talk about a mixed bag of temperatures the past few days! More of the same ups and downs are in store for this week! Tomorrow high pressure will help to keep skies clear and temperatures nice and mild! Highs will reach the low 60s in the Upstate and mid 50s in the mountains. We'll see a few clouds on Wednesday as the first of 2 cold fronts moves in. This will mean a cooler Thursday with highs back in the 50s area-wide.
Friday-Sunday's forecast is a tricky one, the one thing that looks pretty certain... we have much colder air on the way! A strong cold front will move through late week, bringing temps back into the 40s for highs in the Upstate and upper 30s to low 40s in the mountains for the weekend! While the colder air moves in, a low will develop and traverse the gulf coast and east coast. At this point, it doesn't look like the moisture and cold air will line up to bring us snow in the lower elevations. But, with the presence of such a system late week... we'll want to monitor the models for any changes to the track and timing of the cold air. Right now, I'm going with a mostly dry forecast for our area, but a few showers will be possible late Friday. Rain will turn to snow briefly in the mountains before the moisture dries up on Saturday. Again, this forecast could change on us, but at this point the most likely scenario is for a few showers late Friday, then a much colder weekend.
Hope you had a great weekend and that you were able to catch our weather special on Sunday night! If you missed it, it will likely re-run in a couple of weeks! We'll keep you posted!
