After the cloudy, cool Monday that we had, today will bring much better "outside" weather. Highs only made it into the upper 40s and low 50s on Monday, but by this afternoon we'll be about 5-10 degrees above those marks.
However, it is a cold morning! Temperatures are in the upper 20s and low/mid 30s with plenty of frosty windshields out there! In addition to the frost, there are some areas of dense fog - particularly in the western Upstate and through WNC valley spots. This will be an issue through mid-morning, but beyond that we won't have much in the way of problems.
Highs will rise to near 60 degrees in the Upstate, while WNC highs will reach the mid 50s. That puts us a few degrees above-normal... and mostly sunny skies will make it very pleasant if you have to be outdoors. A few cirrus clouds (those high, thin "feather-like" clouds) will be overhead from time to time, but you will need your sunglasses.
On Wednesday a system will bring some small precipitation chances to the Mountains. We'll see more cloud cover tomorrow in WNC, with some spotty rain and snow showers. Valley spots and lower elevations will see a few raindrops, while snow will fall on the higher peaks. Accumulations will be very small - even the highest elevations will pick up less than an inch of snowfall. The Upstate will stay dry, except for perhaps the spots near the NC/SC border where a few spotty raindrops may fall.
Thursday and Friday look to stay dry, before another small chance of WNC rain/snow showers arrives on Saturday. The weekend still looks to be much cooler - but mainly dry. As Kendra said, we'll watch the storm that will track along the Gulf and near the SE Coast - but for now it looks to stay out of our area.
