Few Showers Today

Good morning!  Yesterday's sunshine will be replaced by more clouds for our Wednesday forecast.  We're watching an upper-level system moving through the Ohio Valley this morning, and this will bring some smaller chances of precip to our area.

The Mountains will be a bit closer to the system, so there's a better chance of precip in these locations.  Throughout the day (especially this afternoon/evening) watch for rain and snow showers mixed - rain for the lower areas, while the higher peaks will see frozen precip.  By this evening all areas will change over to flakes, but we won't see any kind of accumulations outside of the higher elevations.  However, even those highest peaks will keep accumulations at a minimum - most likely in the dusting to less-than-an-inch range.

Winds will be breezy in WNC, out of the northwest around 10-15 mph.  Highs will rise to near 50 degrees later today, but the winds and cloud cover will make it feel even cooler.

Across the Upstate areas, the farther distance from the disturbance will bring us a little more in the way of sun.  However, we'll still keep plenty of clouds around - we'll call it a mix of clouds and sunshine.  A few spotty rain showers are possible in northern Upstate counties - but even there, the chance is very slim and any rain will be very light. 

Highs in the Upstate will close in on the upper 50s, so will be slightly above-normal this afternoon.

Clouds clear tonight, with lows cooling back into the 30s and 20s.  Tomorrow will be bright and dry, before another chance of rain and snow showers arrives late Friday and into Saturday (again, snow is only likely in WNC, while Upstate spots will watch for a few raindrops).  The big story for the weekend will be some MUCH cooler air - highs will drop to the 40s and 30s area-wide by Sunday.
