GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Officials with Greenville County Schools said four schools were placed on modified lockdown while police searched for a suspect nearby in Greer on Wednesday.
Susan Clarke with the school district said Riverside High, Riverside Middle, Buena Vista Elementary, and Woodland Elementary were locked down until 1:45 p.m., when the lockdowns were lifted.
Greer police Lt. Jim Holcombe said officers responded to an alarm at a home on Hayfield Lane in Greer on Wednesday morning.
When officers arrived, Holcombe said they saw a man run out of the house. He said the man lost his shoes while he was fleeing.
Holcombe said search dogs from Lyman police helped to track the man in wooded area near the house.
There was a robbery in the same area Tuesday night, Holcombe said. He said a firearm was stolen, which had officers concerned.
Holcombe said about 2:30 p.m. police were told that neighbors had detained someone who matched the description of the man seen fleeing earlier.
The man, identified as Sean Kirkpatrick, 21, was arrested by police, and charged with attempted burglary and malicious damage to property.
