GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

We live in a society where younger means better and women -- in particular -- work hard to stay looking youthful.

Now there's a new alternative to plastic surgery, acupuncture. Dr. Marina Ponton, who works at the Greenville Natural Health Center, specializes in oriental medicine and has been performing acupuncture facelifts for years.

Dr. Ponton says the acupuncture facelift is a very old technique that's been around a long time. She says in the Asian culture, it's very important to take care of your skin.

The acupuncture needles increase the flow of collagen and elastin to the skin's surface. They immediately begin to lessen wrinkles and lines.

Dr. Ponton recommends six to eight sessions for the best results. They cost a fraction of what a surgical facelift would cost.
