Gamecocks baseball opener sold out

COLUMBIA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The home opener for the South Carolina Gamecocks baseball team sold out Monday evening, school officials said.

First pitch for the matchup between South Carolina and the Virginia Military Institute is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday. The series will end with a game at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Fans can still purchase standing-room-only tickets for both games at gamecocksonline.com or by calling 800-4SC-FANS (472-3267).

The 2012 season also set a record for the most number of season tickets sold, officials said.

The Gamecocks start their new season coming off back-to-back College World Series wins.
