UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Former Gamecock quarterback Steve Taneyhill has been picked as the new football coach at Union County High School.
Taneyhill will be formerly introduced to the media at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Currently the head football coach at Chesterfield High School, Taneyhill played for the South Carolina Gamecocks from 1992 to 1995, and was known for his long, mullet hairstyle.
Taneyhill also signed as a free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars, played for the Frankfurt Galaxy in the NFL Europe and also played in the Arena Football League.
As coach, Taneyhill has 120 wins and 34 losses and five state championships. He has also been named Coach of the Year five times.
Taneyhill takes the place of former coach David Lipsey, who resigned in November, citing personal reasons.
