Good morning - and happy Fat Tuesday! We're off to another cold start, as temps are in the upper 20s and low/mid 30s across much of the area. Watch for some frost on your windshield, or at least just let the car warm up a bit before you hit the road.
A weak cold front passes today, bringing more cloud cover to the area. It will be one of those days where we see a "mix" of clouds and sun (partly to mostly cloudy). Since this front is weak and doesn't have much moisture to work with, we'll keep the forecast dry. We've been tracking a few radar returns working towards our NE GA counties but those have been fizzling as they get into our area.
Winds will be breezy today - out of the south and southwest at around 10-15 mph - and those winds will stay breezy over the next few days. Highs today will be seasonal, in the mid to upper 50s area-wide.
Temperatures will be warming over the next few days. By Thursday, highs will reach the low 70s in the Upstate and the upper 60s in WNC. Small rain chances will be with us both Wednesday and Thursday, but those days will bring more dry time than wet weather.
A stronger cold front moves in on Friday, and this will bring high rain chances back to the area. A rumble of thunder will be possible, along with some heavier rain showers. While the Upstate will see only rain, some of the higher elevations will see a changeover to snow showers by late Friday. Winds will pick up with this system and will be especially gusty Friday into Saturday. While the weekend will be brighter and dry, behind the front we'll be much cooler.
