GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Two Greenville County deputies who fired shots at a man after they said he fired shots at them Sunday night were cleared to return to duty on Tuesday.

Investigators said 22-year-old Timothy Hudson was first involved in a crash near the intersection of Hudson Road and Old Spartanburg Road in Greer about 11 p.m. Sunday night and fled the scene.

The other driver involved in the crash told FOX Carolina that Hudson ran a red light.

Deputies said they later got a tip that Hudson was at a home on Hudson Way.

When deputies got to the house about 11:30 p.m., they said Hudson confronted them with a gun and shot at them. Deputies said they fired back. No one was injured.

On Tuesday, investigators said the department's Office of Professional Standards determined that the two deputies, who fired a total of six shots, followed policy and procedure.

In connection with the crash, Hudson was charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident. In connection with the shooting, he was charged with three counts of attempted murder, use of a firearm while under the influence and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was denied bond.
