Spotty Rain and a Higher Threat of Severe Storms on Thursday - FOX Carolina 21

More Spotty Rain and a Higher Threat of Severe Storms on Thursday

Posted: Updated:

-Enjoy Tomorrow:  For the most part, Thursday will be dry and VERY mild!  High temperatures will climb into the 74°-77° range for Upstate and NE Georgia towns.  Western NC towns will enjoy the mild conditions as well as highs reach the low 70s in the high elevations and middle 70s in the valley towns.  Expect more clouds than sunshine for the morning hours, then increasing clouds by the late afternoon.

-Rain & Storms - Timing:  At this point, it looks like the rain and storms will hold off until the late afternoon at the earliest.  However, evening to early Friday AM storms are the most probable scenario.  The good news is that you won't have to expect any rain or storms at all until after late afternoon.

-Severe Threat Heightened on Thursday:  Importantly, the warmer temperatures and higher dewpoints will equal more instability when compared to Wednesday.  This higher instability will enhance storm development and heighten severe weather potential across our area.  The main threats will be damaging wind gusts, small hail and we can't rule out an isolated tornado.

Keep your eyes on Fox Carolina for updates through the day tomorrow in case we have to break into programming to alert your hometown.
