Deputies arrest 2 in Spartanburg meth lab bust

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said they discovered a meth lab while looking for a Spartanburg man wanted on a bench warrant.

Spartanburg County deputies said they went to a Bethesda Road residence Monday looking to arrest 43-year-old Donald Stafford on the bench warrant and while at the home they discovered the makings of methamphetamine lab and arrested another woman in connection with the drugs.

When deputies opened the back door of the home after no one answered, they said they found a plastic drink bottle with a white substance inside that was consistent with a methamphetamine lab.

Amber Burnett, 22, was also inside the home, and she was arrested along with Stafford after deputies said they found numerous items fitting a meth lab, including an empty salt container, plastic tubing, empty boxes of pseudoephedrine, and starter fluid throughout the mobile home.

Deputies said a theoretical yield was calculated from the pseudoephedrine boxes that could produce about 13.7 grams of meth.

Investigators also found coffee filters that field-tested positive for meth along with a green plant-like material inside the home.

Stafford and Burnett were each charged with first offense manufacturing schedule IV drugs, trafficking methamphetamine greater than 10 grams, and were ticketed first offense simple possession of marijuana. They were being held on bond at the Spartanburg County Detention Facility.
