ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

While many college basketball fans might be looking at one University of North Carolina team's success in the NCAA tournament, local fans are cheering on another UNC team.

The UNC-Asheville team is headed to the NCAA tournament for the second year in a row. The bulldogs are seated 16th and face top-seeded Syracuse (31-2) in Pittsburgh on Thursday.

Asheville heads into the tournament with a 24-9 record and the conference championship.

The Big South Conference champs hope to upset Syracuse in the first round. They were 16-2 in their conference, while the Orange were 17-1 in the Big East.

The bulldogs will make the trip to Pittsburgh on Tuesday and tip off is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. on TRU TV.
