WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) -

A special prayer service will be held Wednesday for missing West Ashley mother Marjorie Gayle McCaffrey. McCaffrey was last seen at her home Saturday night and was reported missing Sunday morning by her husband.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating her sudden disappearance. First Baptist Church Pastor Marshall Blalock also noticed McCaffrey's absence on Sunday.

"She is a vital integral part of church life at First Baptist," Blalock said.

Blalock's been the pastor at First Baptist for the past 15 years. He said McCaffrey is a member of the adult choir and plays the bells.

"Always when she sings it's obvious she means what she is singing," Blalock said. "She takes real joy and pleasure in that fellowship that she has with the other choir members and church members. She has a lot of friends here."

Blalock said the news of her disappearance came as a real shock. He said he's never seen McCaffrey at church without her children and he can't imagine she would leave them.

"Knowing her as well as we do and seeing how she interacts so wonderfully with her two beautiful children. She always has them with her. We couldn't imagine her leaving either one of them," Blalock said.

McCaffery's husband told police when he came home Sunday morning the children were still in bed, but his wife was gone. The children are in protective custody.

Blalock says the entire church is praying for her safe return and they are inviting the public to do so as well. The prayer service begins at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church.
