A Greenwood teen was charged with driving under the influence in connection with a crash that killed a cyclist Saturday morning.

The crash happened about 5:30 a.m. near the intersection of state Highway 34 and Butler Circle.

Troopers said Corey McDonald, 18, crashed his car after he hit a bicycle being driven by Eddie Childs, 58, of Greenwood. They said Childs was thrown from the bike and injured. He was taken to Self Regional Hospital, where he later died, troopers said.

Childs was not wearing a helmet, troopers said.
