Authorities say a volunteer firefighter in Sumter County has been arrested after he set fires in the woods, called 911, then helped other firefighters put out the blazes.

The South Carolina Forestry Commission said Thursday that 20-year-old Jordan Baird is charged with two counts of woods arson. Sumter County deputies have also charged him with five counts of improper use of 911.

Investigators say twice in March, Baird set pine straw on fire with a lighter, then called the fires in.

Baird is being held at the Sumter County jail. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
