GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

There's a battle over a billy goat in Greer.

One man doesn't want to give him up, but the city says he's got to go.

Charles Ferguson feels so passionate about keeping his goat, Yogi, he spoke with Fox Carolina to make his case.

Ferguson was put on notice by animal control Monday.  They are giving him until Friday to get rid of Yogi or face criminal charges.

Ferguson says he's been raising the goat since it was born and now it's like family.

"Would the City of Greer ask you to get rid of one of your kids? No! That's like asking me to get rid of one of my kids. This is my kid. It's not gonna happen," said Ferguson.

The ordinance did exist before Ferguson got his goat.

The City of Greer says they have no intentions of changing the ordinance, and if the goat isn't gone by Friday, Ferguson could face criminal prosecution.

Ferguson says he is willing to go to jail for his goat.
