Drivers who frequently use Interstate 385 for their commute will have yet another shift in the traffic pattern to deal with beginning Wednesday.
The construction project, which started more than a year ago, is aimed at widening I-385 to six lanes from West Georgia Road to Woodruff Road. The highway will also be repaved from Woodruff Road to Interstate 85.
On Wednesday, construction crews will move southbound traffic back to its original traffic pattern between Woodruff Road and Standing Springs Road, officials said. They said all south bound exits will be available from the lanes.
Officials said southbound traffic will remain in this pattern until the project is completed.
The switch is needed so crews will have space to widen the northbound lanes, officials said.
Motorists were asked to slow down and pay attention to signage in the construction zone.
