Spartanburg County deputies said they were led on a short chase Wednesday morning after a car fled from a traffic stop before crashing through a fence at the Milliken industrial plant.

According to the report, a deputy tried to pull over a Saturn near Drayton Road and Ansel St. about 4:30 a.m. after someone threw a cigarette butt out of a window. The car pulled over in the median for about a second before speeding off, according to the report.

Deputies said a pursuit began taking several turns, and eventually turned onto Milliken Ave. towards the plant. They said the car did not slow down as it approached the T-shaped intersection at Carney St.

The car drove through a chain link fence onto the property of the Milliken Corp., then fell into a creek and came to a complete rest, according to deputies.

Deputies said they detained a passenger while the female driver fled on foot, leading them on a foot chase across a creek and over rocky boulders throughout the Milliken property until she was finally taken into custody.

The driver, 29-year-old Stefanie Wilson, of Lyman, was cited for having a suspended license, according to the report. She was also charged with failing to stop for blue lights and ticketed for failing to stop at a stop sign.
