HP: 82-year-old dies after hit by truck, run-over in Greer

GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers said an 82-year-old woman died Wednesday after someone backed into and ran over her in Greer.

According to the Highway Patrol, the accident happened about 4 p.m. along Carole Drive when the 85-year-old driver of a truck was backing up and ran over the woman.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said Shirley Marie Garrett, of Greer, died as a result of being struck by a vehicle.

Garrett was taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center where she later died, according to troopers.

The accident is under investigation.
