PENDLETON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Anderson County deputies said a car slammed into a Pendelton grocery store Friday night.

The crash happened about 7:15 p.m. at Greenville Street Grocery at 721 Greenville St.

Deputies said that an elderly couple were traveling on Greenville Street when the man, who was driving, suffered a medical condition, which caused him to pass out. They said the elderly couple's vehicle traveled into the store's parking lot, hit a parked car and both the parked car and couple's car hit the building.

Anderson County Fire Chief Billy Gibson said there were people inside the store at the time, but no injuries were reported. He said the elderly couple were taken to Anmed Health to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Gibson said that rescuers were trying to shore up the building before either removing the cars or allowing the people inside the store to exit.
